Letter from a handicapped child.
From the book: O Caminho da Felicidade, by Nelson Moraes
Mommy, in a rare moment of happiness I recovered consciousness and, for few minutes, I was free from my body. Free from the physical embarrassments, I asked God the opportunity to communicate with you. I know the much you suffer for seeing me in this handicap body where I live as your beloved son, that’s why I wanted to talk to you:
So you know, dear mom, that before you have accepted me in your womb I was no more than a castaway person in the spiritual seas of suffering. You were the beach that sheltered me and gave me safety back. Don’t think it would have been better for any of us if I had died right after my birth. That’s a cruel delusion for the most important thing for me is to live! Your love is the power that can make live longer. The deformed body that supports my existence today means a blessing treasure where I reeducate my spirit and learn to value the life I so many times despised. I know that you suffer because I can’t give you the joy I healthy child can, although, I’m invigorated for knowing that God reserves the Celestial happiness for mothers like you! Being a mom is woman’s natural mission. Being a mom of a child like me is a mission only given by God to special women like you.
I’m coming back to my body as the bird comes back to his nest to be protected against the storms, but before going, I beg God, with all strength of gratitude from a son who had the happiness of having an Angel as a mom, to bless you!
